Arsenal alter David Raya transfer as Brentford agree ‘loan’ with special clause
Brentford will reportedly send David Raya out on loan to Arsenal for the upcoming season with the Gunners holding an option to buy the Spaniard next year. Raya had indicated to Brentford earlier this summer that he was angling for a move away from the club with just one year remaining on his contract.
Brentford were reportedly asking for around £40million from interested clubs, but news broke earlier this month that Arsenal had reached a breakthrough to sign the Spaniard in a deal worth £30m.
However, The Athletic now claim that Raya will instead join Arsenal on a season-long loan for the upcoming campaign with the goalkeeper signing an extension with Brentford.
It’s said that Arsenal will pay £3million up front to sign Raya on loan and they’ll have the option to make it permanent next summer for £27m.
Raya’s medical is reportedly set to take place on Thursday, potentially putting him in contention for Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.
