Arsenal ace Patino ‘to quit club’ as Edu asked to copy Man City tactic

Arteta sets demand for Arsenal in trophy hunt

Arsenal are set to lose highly-rated wonderkid Charlie Patino this summer, with the teenager set to pursue first-team opportunities as a top priority. Sporting director Edu has been asked by concerned supporters to insert a buyback clause if the teenager jumps ship, as Manchester City have done with many of their own academy products in recent seasons.

Patino, 19, has been a regular fixture on loan at Blackpool in the second-tier this campaign. Despite the Tangerines’ relegation being confirmed even before the final day, the Gunners youth prospect has excelled with six goal contributions in 33 matches.

Having had his first taste of regular minutes at senior level, Patino is reportedly keen for more. The Athletic claim that he has informed Arsenal of his opposition to another loan stint, as he would rather find a temporary solution.

The prospects of gaining regular minutes in Arteta’s squad next season are slim to none, with the Gunners set to push for new recruits in the summer as they prepare to return to the Champions League.
