Arsenal ace Mohamed Elneny has more followers than West Ham and Everton combined
Arsenal ace Mohammed Elneny sensationally has more Twitter followers than West Ham and Everton combined.
The Gunners midfielder, 28, has developed a cult following at the Emirates Stadium after arriving from FC Basel in the summer of 2016. Though his popularity in north London is dwarfed by his insane follower count on social media with Elneny boasting Twitter figures of 5.1million.
That, in part, is down to the mass number of Egyptian users on the platform, keeping a close eye on his progress at Arsenal. Compatriots Mohamed Salah and Aston Villa winger Trezeguet are also hugely favoured online with followings of 16.1m and 1.9m respectively.
The mind-boggling statistic was noticed by one fan on Twitter, who posted: "It's funny to me that Mohamed Elneny has more twitter followers than West Ham and Everton combined. The guy is gargantuan."
And while it may be hard to believe, the figures do speak for themselves. The Hammers' social media following stands at an impressive 2.2million and while relegation-threatened Everton have struggled for results this season, they've pulled one out in the social media standings – only the traditional top six boast higher followings than the Toffees.

Frank Lampard's side have an online loyal fanbase of 2.8million, meaning the two Premier League clubs have a combined total of 5m – 100,000 less than the Gunners anchor-man.
While Elneny is expected to move on at the end of the season, when his contract expires, it would be understandable if Mikel Arteta were having second thoughts. Based on his online presence, a new deal might pay for itself through shirt sales alone.
