'Arrogance' – Hasselbaink hits out at star after Chelsea's draw with Man Utd

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink slammed Jorginho’s ‘arrogance’ after his error led to Manchester United’s goal.

Chelsea had to come from a goal down to take a point at home to the Red Devils as Jorginho’s penalty cancelled out Jadon Sancho’s opener.

But the Italian was at fault for United’s goal after failing to deal with a high ball that was sent forwards by Alex Telles.

With Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford closing in on Jorginho on the halfway-line, the midfielder attempted to bring down the high ball with his foot but a poor touch ultimately sent Sancho in on goal before the winger calmly slotted the ball past Edouard Mendy.

Former Blues striker Hasselbaink believes the 29-year-old should have just cleared it or headed it back to his goalkeeper.

‘He should head it, he should head it back. You can’t take that chance and if you do it has to come off,’ Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports.

‘I agree with Roy, it’s not a bit of arrogance… it is arrogance.

‘Thinking “oh I will take it down out of the sky and play,” no. Two men are coming at you, just head the ball back and get people behind the ball.

‘Sancho takes the goal really well but this, you don’t do it.

‘Also, you know yourself… yes technically he is a very good player but he is not somebody who is blessed with pace so he’s never going to be able to get behind Sancho so you don’t take the risk.

‘Just head it back, have people behind you and don’t get a goal against [you] and you still have to score one goal to win the match. It’s silly.’

Chelsea remain top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
