Argentina star trolls French team-mates by celebrating World Cup win in training

Argentinian central defender Facundo Medina has taunted his French team-mates by celebrating in the changing rooms with the Argentina flag.

The Lens central defender could not resist rubbing salt in the wounds of his French colleagues. Medina has two international caps for Argentina but he has not appeared for Lionel Scaloni’s side since October 2011.

Nevertheless, this did not stop him from jumping onto the changing room benches and waving the Argentina flag, in front of his possibly bemused team-mates. The video of the 23-year-old basking in his country’s joy was uploaded to social media by his team-mate Salis Abdul Samed.

Medina leapt onto the benches and waved an Argentina flag in celebration of his country’s first World Cup triumph since 1986. If Medina’s antics were not already cheeky enough, he danced to the tune of ‘Remenez la couple a la maison’ – the song French artist Vegedream wrote to celebrate France’s World Cup victory in 2018.

Fortunately for Medina, none of his team-mates were involved in France’s heartbreaking defeat to Argentina. He has been at the heart of the Ligue 1 side’s defence ever since he moved from Argentinian side Club Atletico Talleres.

This season, he has made 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Lens. Incredibly, Medina could also be at the heart of another side that could disappoint Kylian Mbappe and other French stars.

Lens are currently occupying second position in Ligue 1 in what is becoming a fantastic campaign for the French side. They are only five points behind Paris Saint-Germain in the table and could potentially push the Parisians for the top spot.

Lens’ domestic campaign kicks back into action with a tricky away fixture against Nice on December 29. However, their 2023 will begin in daunting fashion as they must host PSG in a clash that could very well make or break their title hopes.

As well as an Mbappe who may still be seething from France’s World Cup disappointment, he will also have to contend with a jubilant Lionel Messi, who is playing some of his best football of recent years.
