An Argentina fan who posted footage of her bare-chested celebration at the World Cup final has managed to flee Qatar amid concerns for her safety. Noemi Gomez and Milu Barbiie both risked legal repercussions for their stunt at Lusail Stadium, which has earned them social media fame.
Emotions were high last weekend with France aiming to make it back-to-back World Cup triumphs and Argentina gunning for their first since 1986. It turned into a battle of heavyweights with Lionel Messi notching twice and Kylian Mbappe bagging a hat-trick as the game went to penalties.
The two Paris Saint-Germain superstars each converted their spot-kicks but Gonzalo Montiel delivered the crucial blow for Argentina, prompting jubilant celebrations inside the stadium and millions to flood the streets of Buenos Aires.
For two supporters, the triumph meant delivering on a promise they had made before the game – to celebrate by going topless, despite the risk of going to prison.

Reports indicate that they were both escorted from the stadium after millions accidentally saw their controversial celebration on TV, but an Instagram update from Gomez explains that she and her friend managed to escape the Middle East.
According to The Sun, she is now in the European Union and her friend recently posted a video of her in the Spanish capital, Madrid. Gomez appears to have made the most of the ordeal, raking in Instagram followers and renaming herself ‘The Topless Girl’.
Celebrations were vibrant in Argentina as floods of people took to the streets of Buenos Aires and Messi’s home town of Rosario. Some Albiceleste players were slammed for lacking class during the bus parade back in their homeland, however, with supporters taking aim at Kylian Mbappe and the likes of Emiliano Martinez following suit.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper, who proved crucial in the shootout and the closing stages of extra time, carried around a doll with the Frenchman’s face on it while Messi laughed when thrown a figure of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton laid into Martinez for his antics during the game, too, as he pulled out a variety of dirty tricks to gain an edge once it went to penalties.
“I wasn’t overly enamoured with Martinez’s antics in the shootout,” he told The Daily Mail. “I thought [throwing the ball away] was a pretty despicable thing to do. I can understand the mind games and heat of the moment you do whatever it takes.
“But I thought that was totally unnecessary. If you’re Tchouameni walking past Martinez you probably feel like biffing him one. I didn’t like that at all but I can understand Martinez in that moment trying to win a World Cup.”
