Antonio Conte has assured his Tottenham players that he will give them everything as he looks to bring success to the club during his time in charge, according to reports. The 52-year-old was appointed as Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement earlier this week and is awaiting international clearance before he can formally get to work at Hotspur Way.

Conte has signed an 18-month contract with Tottenham, who currently occupy ninth place in the Premier League table after a lacklustre start to the campaign.

He is expected to take charge of Thursday’s meeting with Vitesse in the Europa Conference League as Spurs hunt down a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

The north Londoners endured a turbulent run under Nuno, who only arrived in June before he was given his marching orders after a disappointing four-month spell.

The Portuguese boss never looked like the right fit and was quickly replaced by Daniel Levy with a proven winner in the form of Conte.

Spurs went down the same route two years ago with the appointment of Jose Mourinho, but their new manager is reportedly determined to succeed where his predecessor failed by ending the club’s long and painful wait for a major trophy.

Conte held a passionate meeting with his players on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Daily Mail, during which he promised them: “I’ll give you everything.”

The Spurs boss is said to have informed the squad of his desire to instil a winning mentality but insisted that they must be prepared to work hard in order to be successful.

He also underlined the importance of togetherness and urged his troops to start enjoying themselves again following a difficult start to the season.

It is claimed that Conte made a point of speaking English to his players and will continue to do so to ensure that everyone feels on an equal footing.

He went on to preside over the club’s training schedule on Wednesday but was unable to lead any sessions as he continues to wait on the necessary clearance.

However, the players are understood to have been thoroughly impressed by Conte and will strive to repay his faith by working tirelessly to follow through on his aims.

It remains to be seen whether Conte will be able to get off to a winning start against Vitesse, who defeated Spurs in the reverse fixture last month.

The former Inter Milan boss recently outlined his plan to implement an attractive playing style as he looks to rebuild the level of trust between his new club and its supporters over the coming weeks.

“To be Tottenham manager, it’s a great pleasure, a great honour,” Conte told Tottenham’s in-house media team.

“Now for sure I want to repay this trust. My coaching philosophy is very simple – to play good football, attractive football, with passion, for our fans.

“To have a stable team, not up and down. I think that the fans deserve to have a competitive team with a will to fight.

“We will do everything to deserve their support.”
