Antonio Conte was appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur last week having left Inter Milan over the summer and remains unbeaten in his two games as boss with a 3-2 win over Vitesse and a 0-0 draw at Everton. And it appears the Italian has already begun to exert his influence on the club’s hierarchy after reports emerged of his interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic, 21, has been on top form in Serie A this season with eight goals in 12 games.
Arguably one of the best young strikers in the world, the Serbian has shot to prominence in the last 18 months with some superb performances for I Viola.
It is likely only a matter of time before he moves to a team in the Champions League, such is his goalscoring prowess.
And a report by Alfredo Pedulla suggests that a Premier League move could be in the offing for Vlahovic.
The report states that Fiorentina will ask for between £60million and £70m for the Serbian in the winter market following his superb goalscoring form.
However, given that Vlahovic will have just one year left on his contract by the end of the season, his price will come down considerably in the summer, with the report stating a minimum of £10m will be taken off the asking price.
Tottenham have spoken about the possibility of signing him, with Conte being a big fan having seen him score 21 goals in just Serie A 37 appearances last season.
In fact, the report states that he has already spoken to sporting director Fabio Paratici about the possibility of securing his signature, which could offer a hint about Harry Kane’s Spurs future, the striker having wanted to join Manchester City last summer.
The north London outfit may well be looking at Vlahovic as a player who can replace Kane, though he could also play alongside the England captain under Conte.
The report goes on to say that Juventus are also interested alongside Atletico Madrid as the continental rivals for his signing.
However, Tottenham should also look closer to home if they are to sign the striker as Arsenal and Liverpool are also supposedly interested.
Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has revealed Vlahovic will not sign a new deal.
“The renewal proposal was not accepted,” Commisso said.
“As you know, Fiorentina made a very important offer to the player, a contract proposal that would have made him the highest-paid player in the history of the club.
“Our offer had also been improved on several occasions over time, to meet the demands of both Dusan and his entourage, but despite our best efforts, the renewal proposal was not accepted.”
