Anthony Elanga is Man Utd’s new wonderkid who has impressed Bruno Fernandes
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could make a few surprises in his team selection tonight against Leicester City, including youngster Anthony Elanga.
The Manchester United boss will look to manage his key players, as he gears up for the team’s second of three games in six days.
United’s fringe players, including Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata and Alex Telles, will hope to get a rare start if Solskjaer does decide to shuffle his pack, but youth players may get a look in too.
Axel Tuanzebe, Amad Diallo and Brandon Williams are some of the main contenders to make an appearance against the Foxes tonight, but a handful of others will also fancy their chances of getting some gametime.
Solskjaer was asked about Shola Shoretire in his press conference yesterday, with the Norwegian keeping his cards close to his chest.
Shoretire is unlikely to be included having played in the under-23s game against Derby last night, however Elanga was one of those to be rested.
The 19-year-old travelled abroad for the Europa League fixtures against Granada and Roma, so will be at the forefront of his manager’s mind for tonight.
But it’s not just Solskjaer that the winger has impressed, with talismanic midfielder Bruno Fernandes also picking up on Elanga’s talent.
“He is impressing everyone because he is a really nice kid,” Fernandes told ManUtd.com.
“(He is) Quiet, works hard. He is really good on the ball, plays with both feet. So he has a future.”
If Solskjaer does look to rotate tonight, he will risk gifting Manchester City the Premier League title, while losses against Champions League-chasing Leicester and Liverpool in the next few days could see the Red Devils dragged into a top four scrap.
Alternatively, it could be a chance for Elanga to make himself an Old Trafford hero if he denies City the title.
