Angry Paul Pogba ‘shunned boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’ after Liverpool snub

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is said to have been left fuming by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's snub before their Premier League clash against Liverpool – with talks over a new contract now on hold.

The World Cup winning midfielder didn't start in their midweek Champions League comeback, but he did in their last domestic clash against Leicester, which ended in comprehensive defeat.

It appears as though the 28-year-old was expecting to come back into the fold at Old Trafford on Sunday, but he was limited to a role off the bench with Scott McTominay and Fred getting the nod.

Having come on at half-time for Mason Greenwood, Pogba gave the ball away for Liverpool's fifth and final goal before seeing red as Naby Keita was taken off on a stretcher.

The Sun have now reported that Pogba snubbed Solskjaer after being left out of the XI, apologising to his team-mates but not his manager for his dismissal.

The report adds that Solskjaer has now lost the backing of senior stars in the dressing room, and that Pogba has put talks over a new contract on hold.

The former Juventus midfielder can leave the club for free in the summer following his 2016 return, and has been linked to Real Madrid as well as a return to Italy.

Before the Liverpool clash, Pogba had lashed out at the form of the team following their 4-2 defeat against Leicester during the previous weekend.

He said: "We've had these kinds of games for a long time.

"We have not found the problem, conceding easy goals – we need to be more mature, play with more experience and arrogance in a good way.

"We need to find something, we need to change."

And said after Sunday: "No time to feel sorry for ourselves… Wake up, step up and make the next days better!"

Paul Scholes lashed out at Pogba for his dangerous tackle, and hinted that he wouldn't mind if Pogba never played for the Red Devils again.

He told Premier League Productions: "Paul Pogba coming on to the pitch at half-time to try and help the team and maybe get a little respectability about it, tries to stand on the ball, tries to show how strong he is in the middle of the pitch… gives the goal away.

"Then later on gets sent off with a ridiculous tackle. Now you're 5-0 down with 10 men. You'd have to think, if Ole's still a manager there, will we see Pogba again in a United shirt?

"Look, he probably will play [again] won't he? But I don't think they will be missing anything if he doesn't."
