Ange Postecoglou to 'oversee huge attempted squad clear-out' at Spurs
Incoming Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou will oversee a ‘huge attempted clear-out’ this summer, with ‘at least seven players – including Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic and Davinson Sanchez – on the chopping block’
- Ange Postecoglou is on the verge of becoming Tottenham’s next manager
- When his arrival is confirmed, he is set to give the green light for outgoings
- According to reports, at least seven players are now on the chopping block
Ange Postecoglou is set to begin a ruthless Tottenham culling after his imminent appointment, reports claim, with at least seven first-team players up for the axe.
As reported by Mail Sport, Spurs are on the verge of hiring Postecoglou as their new manager after the move accelerated over the last day or so. He is now almost certain to be in position shortly, perhaps within the next 48 hours.
When his arrival is confirmed, the 57-year-old is expected to begin a wide-sweeping attempted clear-out of the squad, the club being keen to re-shape their senior crop.
That is according to The Telegraph, which also adds that captain Hugo Lloris and the experienced Ivan Perisic are the biggest names at risk of being shown the door.
The futures of Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon are also unclear, while centre back Clement Lenglet could be allowed to return to Barcelona after his loan spell.

Spurs, meanwhile, will not move to sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal permanently.
Offers for Ben Davies and Eric Dier may also be considered, the same outlet says.
The club’s meagre eighth-placed finish, which saw them entirely miss out on qualifying for Europe, is likely to have preceded the effort to ship out several players.
Indeed, The Telegraph reports the disappointing campaign has ‘prompted a will’ to trim down the squad, and a host of other first-teamers could also be chopped.
Spurs, it is said, will look to sell Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks, although a decision has not yet been made on the future of Tanguy Ndombele.
Ndombele spent last season on loan with Serie A champions Napoli and made 30 appearances in total, and Postecoglou may choose to run the rule over him first.

There remains a concrete reluctance on Daniel Levy’s part to sell Harry Kane, a target for both Manchester United and Real Madrid over the coming weeks.
Madrid are expected to test the waters with an eye-watering bid likely to be worth around £100million while United face an uphill struggle to tempt a rival to sell up.
Mail Sport understands that the highly-rated Postecoglou will sign an initial two-year deal with Spurs, with the option for a further 12 months.
The tactician, fresh from leading Celtic to the domestic treble in Scotland, emerged as the frontrunner after interest in Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot stalled.
Luis Enrique and Fulham boss Marco Silva made the latter stages of the process, too.
However, Postecoglou has significant support at Spurs and is poised to take the job.
