Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera has quashed the possibility of a late move to Tottenham by underlining his loyalty to former club Manchester United, according to reports. The 32-year-old has been mentioned in connection with the north Londoners ahead of this evening’s deadline, with Antonio Conte desperate to add to his squad in preparation for the all-important Premier League run-in.
Tottenham managed to complete their first two signings of the new year earlier on Monday when Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur joined the club with less than eight hours left to do business.
However, it has been far from plain sailing in the market for Spurs thus far, with director of football Fabio Paratici having missed out on a number of key targets.
The likes of Adama Traore and Luis Diaz were firmly on the club’s radar before deciding to join Barcelona and Liverpool respectively.
Meanwhile, a late approach for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was said to have been rebuffed by the Italian outfit on Monday morning.
It seems as though yet another potential addition has slipped through the net over the last few hours, with Herrera having decided against a surprise return to English football with Tottenham.

His name was initially mentioned during talks with PSG over a potential part-exchange deal that would have seen Tanguy Ndombele go the other way, according to The Athletic.
However, the possibility of such a move was quickly extinguished by Herrera, who insisted that he was happy with his current situation.
The Spaniard was also said to have reaffirmed his loyalty to United as the only Premier League club that he would consider playing for.
Ndombele eventually sealed a temporary move to Lyon with the option to buy at the end of the season in a return to familiar surroundings for the 25-year-old midfielder.
He left the Ligue 1 heavyweights to join Tottenham for a club-record fee in 2019 but has failed to live up to expectations in the years since.
Meanwhile, summer signing Bryan Gil has also been shipped out on loan until the end of the season, with Valencia taking him on a six-month deal.
The 20-year-old arrived from Sevilla during pre-season but is yet to start a Premier League game under Conte’s management.
Spurs are also expected to see Dele Alli join Everton on a permanent basis in the remaining hours of the January window.

The former England ace has endured a dramatic fall from grace over the last few years and was unable to work his way into Conte’s plans following the latter’s appointment back in November.
He has agreed terms with the Toffees on an initial free transfer which could reach in excess of £30million when performance-related bonuses are taken into account, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The deal is said to include a guaranteed payment of £16.7m after Alli has played 20 games for Everton, who currently occupy 16th place in the Premier League table.
