Amrabat ‘snubs Liverpool for Man Utd’ as Ten Hag closes in on discount deal
Man Utd v Wrexham: Match Preview
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been handed a major boost in his pursuit of Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat. The midfielder has reportedly turned his nose up at the prospect of joining bitter rivals Liverpool, with the Red Devils boss keen to put the cherry on top of an exciting deal by sewing up a healthy discount.
Amrabat has been a household name since he starred at last year’s World Cup with Morocco. Tailed by top clubs ever since, United are expected to make a move for the 26-year-old before the end of the summer transfer window.
Ten Hag and co are currently believed to be prioritising a striker, with Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund heavily linked. Once that is ticked off the Dutchman’s to-do list, a new midfielder could be next through the door.
United reportedly need to shift players of their own before swooping for Amrabat, with Fred and Donny van de Beek deemed the most likely to depart.

And while Ten Hag may have felt vulnerable to other clubs moving in on Amrabat in the meantime, his nerves will have been eased by Corriere claiming that Liverpool’s recent approach was rejected by the player.
Amrabat has ‘said yes’ to the Red Devils and seemingly has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford. Fiorentina are asking for £26million, and United could rub salt in Liverpool’s wounds by negotiating an even cheaper fee.

The midfielder was born in the Netherlands and featured for Utrecht and Feyenoord before his move to Italy. Most comfortable when patrolling the base of midfield, Amrabat has been with Fiorentina since 2020, racking up more than 100 first-team appearances for La Viola.
If he sits tight and United come calling, the Moroccan could join up with summer signings Mason Mount and Andre Onana. Throw in a striker and Ten Hag will consider the current window to have been a resounding success.
Speaking ahead of last week’s pre-season clash with Arsenal, Ten Hag refused to rule out the possibility of a Premier League title bid next campaign. “We want to win every game and we have shown in last season we can beat all the teams,” he said.
“Now we have to do it on a consistent basis so that is absolutely one of our objectives to be more consistent then we will see. We want to play at a higher level, raise the bar, lift the demands and we will see. It’s a strong competition but we can beat any club.”
