Amazon are reportedly refusing to rule out buying Manchester United. The Glazers put the club on the market at end of last month, less than a fortnight after Cristiano Ronaldo had taken aim at their rule prior to his bitter departure. And it seems like one of the world’s biggest retailers could end up coming to the rescue of the Red Devils, despite the huge finances any potential takeover would involve.
The Glazers last month confirmed they were exploring a potential sale of United, saying: “The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1 billion fans and followers.
“As we seek to continue building on the Club’s history of success, the Board has authorised a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives.
“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximises the significant growth opportunities available to the Club today and in the future.
“Throughout this process we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders, and various stakeholders.”
And with Amazon showing interest, Express Sport will now take a look at four things they must prioritise if they manage to oust the Glazers after 17 years of rile.

Revamp Old Trafford
For many years, Old Trafford was the best stadium in the country. Particularly when it was a fortress under Sir Alex Ferguson.
But the gladiatorial arena has started to look old and is in dire need of a revamp, something the Glazers are fully aware of.
They were reportedly left stunned at the figures they were quoted and, though there’s been talk of a new stadium, United appear to be leaning towards revamping their existing one instead.
Multiple videos have surfaced in recent years showing Old Trafford in a poor light, such as one when water was seen pouring onto a seat in the Stretford End.
United, as one of the biggest clubs on the planet, need their ground to be state-of-the-art.

Revamp training ground
In his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo took aim at the club’s Carrington training complex.
“Nothing changed, surprisingly. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym,” he said. “Even the kitchen, the chefs, whom I appreciate – lovely people. They stopped in time. It surprised me a lot.
“I thought I would see other things, technologies, and infrastructure. Unfortunately, we see a lot of what I used to see at 21, 22, and 23 years old. It really surprised me.”
United responded by insisting they’ve done work on Carrington in recent years in the swimming pool area, safety and main gym.
Planning permission is also in place to revamp the remainder of the complex to add more offices, a wider gym area and a bigger car park.
But United need to continue to revamp their facilities, especially given how they’re still believed to pale in comparison to what players at Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham train in these days.

Get fans on side
From minute one, it was clear United fans wouldn’t tolerate the Glazers taking charge.
They protested in 2005, with even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opposed to their rule, and supporters have continued to make their feelings known in the years since.
Therefore, should Amazon take over, they’ll need to ensure they have the backing of supporters.
United won’t allow new owners to keep things the same. They want to see revolution, they crave progress and they won’t stop the protests until they’re satisfied.
Amazon, beware. Football fans are far more volatile than any customers who leave a poor review…
Football figures in football positions
While there’s an argument that Amazon would need to lavishly spend if they took charge of United, a bigger priority would be putting footballing figures in football positions.
These days, Richard Arnold possesses plenty of power. And though the appointment of John Murtough seems to be paying off, the Red Devils require more.
Imagine what an Edwin van der Sar or Paul Mitchell could achieve at the club? Certainly, they’re two figures fans would want to see arrive.
United fans loathed Ed Woodward when he was the Glazers’ chief lieutenant.
And with any new owners likely to revamp things behind the scenes, supporters can expect plenty of changes to be made – regardless of whether Amazon, or someone else, takes charge.
