Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona on Tuesday afternoon gave Arsenal fans much to ponder about his exit – and striker Alexandre Lacazette has alleviated fears that he may join in the summer after a cryptic tweet.

Aubameyang, 32, joined the Gunners in 2018 for a fee of £60million from Borussia Dortmund.

The Gabonese international started life well in north London, scoring 54 goals in his first 85 league games in Arsenal colours.

His form was rewarded with a £350,000-per-week contract alongside the captaincy.

However his career started to dwindle from here after failing to produce the goods his contract was rewarding him with.

And after being stripped of the captaincy following a spate of disciplinary issues, his departure was confirmed – with Lacazette cryptically saying ‘see you soon’.

“My bro!!,” Lacazette said.

“Thanks for the last 4 years, my experience in Arsenal would have been different without you. Wish you good luck in your next chapter!

“See you soon,” the Gunners striker concluded.

Lacazette has been in poor form for the Gunners this season, scoring just three goals in 16 games this season.

Much of that is to do with Mikel Arteta’s reluctance to play him at the start of the season, making his first start in October.

And Aubameyang told of his broken relationship with Arteta.

“I think it was a problem just with him [Arteta]. I can’t really tell you much. He wasn’t happy and that was it,” Aubameyang said.

“I can’t say anything else because that’s what happened. I wasn’t very happy and I’m better this way.

“There were some complicated months. Sometimes football is like that. If I had to say something about this, I would say, on my behalf, I never wanted to do anything bad.

“Now I have to put this behind me, that is in the past. I want to think about the present.”
