Alexander-Arnold’s career perfectly summed up during miserable Liverpool loss
Trent Alexander-Arnold endured a rollercoaster performance West Ham ended Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season with a spectacular 3-2 victory.
The England right-back scored a marvellous 25-yard free-kick to cancel out Alisson’s own goal and level the contest for Jurgen Klopp’s side on the stroke of half-time.
However, his defensive frailties were once again exposed, as Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma scored David Moyes’ side’s second and third goals of the contest.
The Hammers’ regained the lead after counter-attacking the space vacated by the 23-year-old, before Zouma strolled in front of the hesitant defender to head home the crucial third.
And while his free-kick was a thing of beauty, the Liverpool star was still torn into on social media.
“Yes Alexander-Arnold is fine at assisting and shooting but he just watched Zouma like a statue from that corner lol,” said one fan.
“Trent Alexander Arnold is objectively the most overrated right back in the world” added another who was particularly scathing about his performance.”
With the international break set to take the place of the Premier League, fans turned their attention to Alexander-Arnold’s chances of starting for England.
Many were even suggesting the Liverpool star should not be anywhere near Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up, due to the excellent form of Chelsea full-back Reece James.
