Alassane Plea is ready to leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer as the Germans look to offset the financial implications of the Covid pandemic.
After being knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City this season and slipping to eighth in the Bundesliga table, Gladbach are making changes on and off the pitch.
A new coach, Adi Hutter, will take charge and they are willing to sacrifice versatile forward Plea to raise funds rather than lose the younger Marcus Thuram or midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Plea has been impressive over the past five seasons. From his time at Nice to his £21.6million transfer to Gladbach he has won over teammates and supporters with his selfless running and consistency.
This season he has still managed ten goals despite Gladbach struggling to provide the same level of service.
He has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Leicester City in recent seasons and English clubs are monitoring developments with the Frenchman once again.

Plea was converted from a winger to centre forward by former Leicester boss Claude Puel while at Nice. Indeed, it was Puel who recognised Plea’s ability to hold play up by utilising his strength and skill giving his side a greater focal point in attack.
When Nice then brought in Mario Balotelli, Plea was willing to move to the left wing for the sake of their new arrival. ‘I’m a fighter, not a guy who sulks,’ he said. ‘Who am I to refuse to play on the wing?’ They formed an exciting partnership where Plea added 27 goals and nine assists over the following two campaigns.
‘At Nice, I don’t think people understood how lucky we were to have a player like him,’ said his former teammate Alexy Bosetti. ‘Mario stole most of the limelight, but as far as I was concerned, Alassane was our best attacking player, no question about it.’
His displays prompted a number of clubs to push for his services in 2018 including West Ham.

His agent Stephane Courbis, who also represents former Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny, was mindful though that Plea wanted to try the Bundesliga and a deal was struck with Gladbach where he settled into his preferred central striker role.
‘It’s flattering to hear that clubs from the Premier League were interested,’ said Plea. ‘But I desperately wanted to come to Germany because you get everything you need here to move onto the next level and improve.’
Now interest is growing from rivals in Germany plus clubs in Italy and England and Plea could be poised to finally make his mark on the Premier League.
