Alan Shearer has once again mocked Gary Lineker’s ears during the BBC’s coverage of England’s match against Wales at the World Cup. The moment came after the studio had discussed their memories of the fixture with the Newcastle legend mocking the presenter over an old picture that had been unearthed from when he was a player.
Shearer and Lineker have been the two main faces on the BBC’s football coverage over the past 15 years and the duo are regularly seen taking the mickey out of each other. That relationship was once again on show during the broadcasters’ pre-match build-up for England vs Wales with the 52-year-old mocking his friend’s ears.
Shearer was proud to show off an old photo of the presenter showing the presenter with a questionable haircut which covered his ears.
“We’ve actually got a picture of you…” Shearer told Lineker with “Oh God” the apprehensive 61-year-old’s only response.
“That was you on the bench,” the former Newcastle man said, highlighting the picture. “You’ll do anything to cover your lugs up won’t you!”
Lineker had no choice but to accept the jokes saying: “Touche, touche. Let’s move on!”

The 63-time capped England international was in a jovial mood before the match, mocking the rivalry that exists between Wales and the Three Lions, suggesting he never played against the Dragons because he saved himself for bigger games.
“No I didn’t, only against the big countries,” he said when asked if he had ever played Wales. “I’m joking, I’m joking! Just trying to get it going a bit! You don’t have to talk it up, even as players, you would have read in the media what’s gone on the past couple of days, they know what’s gone on in 2016, so they’ll be ready and it’ll be, I’m pretty sure it’ll be a great occasion, and we’ll see goals.
“(I want to see) the same aggression and pace of play as in their first game against Iran. This is a game that splits a lot of these between friends and families and towns all across the country, all that goes out the window tonight and every single man on that pitch will want to win.
“What I will say, from an England point of view, remember when the Wales players were laughing at the England players in 2016 (Euros) when they got knocked out? I’m sure Gareth Southgate will mention that.”
Shearer got his wish as England dominated their Welsh opponents to come out as comfortable winners.
