Alan Brazil slams Sky Sports Soccer Saturday as ‘bang average’

TalkSPORT radio host Alan Brazil described Sky Soccer Saturday as “bang average” during a conversation with Matt Le Tissier.

The former Manchester United striker recently hosted the Southampton legend on his podcast. Le Tissier was sacked by Sky Sports in the summer of 2020 as part of a huge shake up of their ‘Sky Soccer Saturday’ coverage.

Le Tissier, along with other pundits Charlie Nicholas, and Phil Thompson were sent packing, to the horror and frustration of Premier League supporters. And while asking about his departure, Brazil also went out of his way to slam the program.

“One thing I’ve got to ask you,” Brazil began on the Pub Talk podcast. “I don’t watch any of them because I think they are bang average now.

“Soccer Saturday on Sky, that was a must for me on a Saturday afternoon. A bit of racing, Soccer Saturday, Jeff (Stelling), the panel, that’s all changed now.

“There’s Merse (Paul Merson) left and a few others, but I don’t get whoever made that decision, I really don’t get it.”

Le Tissier has previously claimed he was given the push by Sky Sports because of the controversial opinions he liked to express on social media. He has become a somewhat controversial figure over the last couple of years.

He has previously claimed actors were masquerading as Coronavirus patients and also retweeted a claim that suggested images from Russia ’s invasion of Ukraine may have been falsified. These opinions led to him resigning from his position as an ambassador for his beloved Southampton.

However, Le Tissier has repeatedly insisted that decision was his, and his only, as he said he did not want the club to get any “grief”. The former England international has also previously appeared on podcasts with Nigel Farage and also does his own livestreams on social media.
