Sergio Aguero has offered an emotional message to Barcelona supporters following his Manchester City departure – naming the Catalan giants as the "best club in the world".
The Argentina forward spent 10 seasons at the Etihad following his Atletico Madrid exit back in 2011, endearing himself to supporters and becoming their greatest ever player in the minds of many.
Having said that, his free transfer to La Liga giants Barcelona has been difficult to swallow, and his comments on arrival are sure to raise a few eyebrows back in Manchester.
Having been announced by the club on Monday morning before the deal is made official on July 1, Aguero spoke honestly about the status of his new side.
"We all know that Barca are the best club in the world so I think I made a great decision to be here and I hope to help the team," Aguero said on Monday evening.
"Of course it's a step forward in my career.
"I'm really happy and hopefully I can help the team to win things.
"First of all I want to play and help this squad and if the team does it well I will be happy individual. I just try to help the team and try to arrive at the end of the season with chances to win titles."
Adding: "I want to send a big hello to all the supporters, I will give my best and hopefully the fans will enjoy my skills. I have changed a little bit, at least my looks,
"When I arrived in Europe with Atletico Madrid I learnt a lot when I played for City, now I have changed my way of playing, but I have an idea where I can play."
Adding: "I didn't even hesitate. I didn't want someone else to talk to me, just Barca.
"[Pep] Guardiola, when we won the Premier League, he told me 'You're going to the best team in the world'."

Not only did he hint that he was joining a bigger club in Barcelona, but also that Pep Guardiola shared the same sentiment before his departure.
Having said that, the legacy of Aguero at Manchester City is not likely to be tarnished by positive comments regarding the club that offered him a new chance to shine on the biggest stage.
Additionally, Guardiola has made no secret that Barcelona are the club of his heart, with legends like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi playing a huge part in Aguero's own career.
He concluded: "As a boy I said one day they will surely notice me and here I am."
