TalkSport pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool’s worrying performances and labelled his side as ‘toothless’ in recent weeks.
The Reds fell to a shocking 1-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon with Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal proving to be the difference between the two sides.
With Klopp’s side continuing to lose ground on their league rivals – already 11 points behind leaders Arsenal – Agbonlahor has ripped into the German’s label of a ‘mentality monster’.

Speaking on TalkSport’s Gameday Phone-In, Agbonlahor said: ‘Where do you start with Liverpool?
‘First of all, Fabio Carvalho doesn’t look like he’s Premier League quality. He doesn’t look ready, he needs another season out on loan. He struggled, he’s not influenced the game, he looked non-existent. Harvey Elliott played well, but Curtis Jones struggled. These are talented kids but right now Liverpool need players to turn up.
‘Fabinho’s legs have gone. His idea of a sprint is like a walk at the moment. Liverpool have got a lot of problems. Roberto Firmino is inconsistent, Mohamed Salah was poor today, and Joe Gomez, he has two decent games and everyone is saying he can go to the World Cup, but today he was awful again. So sloppy.’
The Reds – who reached the Champions League final in May – were beaten in convincing fashion against Forest, who moved up to 19th in the table following the win.

Agbonlahor continued: ‘Mr Mentality Monster, Jurgen, five games away from home without a win this season – can he only get them up for home games at a full Anfield?
‘Can he not get his ‘mentality monster’ team up for away games? Because today was shocking from Liverpool. Every player apart from Alisson was below a five out of ten today.’
Liverpool’s Brazilian goalkeeper was called into action on numerous occasions as Klopp’s side was overran by Forest’s attackers at the City Ground.
When asked on their prospects of securing a spot in next year’s Champions League, the pundit said: ‘Liverpool getting back into the top-four – can you name four better teams better than Liverpool in the Premier League at the moment? Easily!
‘Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Spurs, Chelsea, and there are more than that. Newcastle, even.’

The former Aston Villa striker has taken aim at Klopp a number of times in recent months
‘I said at the start of the season I don’t think Liverpool will get into the Champions League this season, and I stand by that. I’m not getting carried away by them beating Rangers, who were dreadful, or beating Man City due to Pep Guardiola’s mistakes with his tactics,’ Agbonlahor said.
‘They didn’t fancy it today at all against Nottingham Forest. Liverpool are so inconsistent. They were toothless.
‘Forest were the better team, they put it on Liverpool’s toes, they looked organised, Lingard looked better today, Gibbs White looked much better today.’

Just last month, Agbonlahor criticised Klopp for his response to Dieter Hamann’s comments about Liverpool’s recent form.
Ahead of their Champions League game with Rangers, Hamann said that ‘at some point we are going to have that discussion about the manager’ to which Klopp responded by saying that his compatriot has ‘no idea’ what he’s talking about.
That’s when Agbonlahor jumped in and labelled the Liverpool boss ‘a petulant child’.
‘I thought Jurgen Klopp was like a petulant child,’ Agbonlahor told talkSPORT Breakfast. ‘Didi Hamann won the Champions League for Liverpool, had a fantastic career, if he can’t talk about Liverpool then who can?’.

And in August, following the radio pundit’s call for Erik ten Hag to quit after Manchester United’s 4-0 humiliation at Brentford, Klopp laid into the former striker.
The Liverpool manager claimed he nearly called talksport to complain after listening to Agbonlahor’s criticism as he drove home from training last Saturday evening.
‘What he said about United, I was close to calling in and telling him, “you have forgotten completely that you have been a player”,’ said Klopp.
‘He lost against us 6-0 in my first year (at Liverpool). I couldn’t remember him as a “mentality monster” on the pitch. It was unbelievable (what he said). If ex-players are going already like this, you can imagine how everything else is going.’
