Wolves forward Adama Traore is hoping that Tottenham make a late bid to sign him before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, according to reports. Traore has been a target for Spurs since former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as the club’s new head coach.

Traore enjoyed a largely successful time together at the Midlands club.

The speedy Spain international was key as Wolves qualified for the Europa League in 2019.

Nuno departed the club at the end of last season following a tough campaign. Several long-term injuries derailed their formed and they eventually finished 13th.

The 47-year-old was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s replacement following Spurs’ chaotic search for a permanent successor.

He has been linked with a deal that would see him reunited with Traore at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, a move is yet to materialise.

The Mirror has now reported that Traore is waiting for Spurs to submit a bid so a transfer can be finalised before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

The 25-year-old has had an impressive start to the season, despite Wolves failing to win a point in matches against Leicester City, Spurs and Manchester United.

He performed well in the unfortunate 1-0 defeat against United, causing several problems for the Red Devils’ back four.

However, the Mirror continue that they could be put off making another bid after having a previous offer turned down.

Wolves value Traore at around £40million. They turned down an offer from Spurs to take the player on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Traore would be Spurs’ fifth arrival of the summer. Nuno has already made some impressive additions to his squad.

Goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and defender Cristian Romero have both joined on loan from Serie A side Atalanta.

Winger Bryan Gil has been signed from Sevilla in a £25m deal, which also saw long-serving midfielder Erik Lamela head to the La Liga outfit.

The north Londoners have also announced the arrival of midfielder Pape Matar Sarr from Metz. The 18-year-old has re-joined the French side on loan for the rest of the season.

Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal has also been linked with a move to Spurs. Sky Sports have claimed that a £25m bid has been tabled for the Brazilian, who spent the last two years on loan at Real Betis.

Nuno has overseen a successful start to the season, winning each of his first three matches 1-0.

His side sit top of the Premier League heading into the September international break. They also managed to keep hold of Harry Kane, despite strong interest from Manchester City.

The Portuguese head coach has been secretive when asked about further arrivals.

“[We are] as close as we can be [to finishing our business], as close as we can be, realising that it’s not an easy task to bring in players because we have talent, we have quality, and we can see that a player coming to join us has to bring something different,” Nuno said last week.

When I said competitive [squad] earlier it’s among ourselves, by changing something that needs to be changed, by building the commitment permanently on us.

“This is being competitive. We don’t expect to find solutions outside. I think the solutions are inside. It’s us that needs to be competitive.”
