League One outfit Accrington Stanley managed to miss two penalties in the space of two minutes as they shipped three to Derby on Saturday.
Derby had struck earlier doors, but when Max Bird fouled Shaun Whalley, Accrington were handed a golden opportunity to get back into the game. Skipper Sean McConville stepped up, but saw the keeper guess correctly, who saved low down to his right.
Moments later, Whalley was again brought down in the box, leaving the referee no choice but to award a second spot kick. McConville stepped up again, but this time he missed the target, smashing it wide.

One fan joked: "Has anyone ever had a hat-trick of missed penalties in one game? If not, Accrington’s Sean McConville could be on for a piece of history! Surely he doesn’t take the next one if they get another?"
"Diana Ross takes a better penalty than Sean McConville – pass it on," another added. While a third tweeted: "McConville has absolutely Kwarteng‘ed this up for Accrington!"
And one punter was left fuming at the misses: "@ASFCofficial two penalties missed cost me £710 @mcconville hang your head in shame."

Derby went on to find the net two more times, and after the match, Paul Warne said: "The two penalties were, from my view, self-inflicted moments and not great creative play from Accrington to get the opportunities.
"I wasn’t happy about it; I was raging and at times some of the things we did weren’t what I wanted us to do.
"It was a crazy period and Joe Wildsmith kept us in it with the first save, before Will got his second after they put their other penalty wide."
