AC Milan’s Emil Roback ‘missing for the last 14 days’ as alarm raised in Sweden

AC Milan have raised concerns over the welfare one of their players Emil Roback after his loan club confirmed he has gone missing. Roback hasn’t been seen or heard from for over two weeks by the Serie A giants or his temporary club, IFK Norrkoping, with officials from both clubs desperately attempting to make contact with the young striker.

The 20-year-old joined the Swedish outfit on loan back in March but he has struggled to make an impression with the Allesvenskan club, featuring only three times in his seven-month spell at the club.

And there are now concerns for his safety as he has reportedly gone AWOL, missing training in the process. According to Aftonbladet, Norrkoping have been left in the dark regarding his whereabouts after Roback was absent for the last two training sessions.

The club’s sporting director, Tony Martinsson, has raised alarm about his situation in Sweden and is keen to gain some assurances that the player is well, as he hasn’t been heard from over the past two weeks.

“I want to know that he is OK,” he said, as quoted by the Swedish newspaper. “It’s worrying that we can’t get hold of him, but I don’t know what else we can do. I have sat down with him many times, but it is difficult to reach him,”

“I want him to come here. Then we can find a plan that works for everyone. I haven’t given up hope that he will return but it’s hard to know when we haven’t seen him in 14 days.”

Roback joined Milan from Hammarby in 2020 in a deal worth £1.3million and was loaned to Nordsjaelland last season, but failed to make a first-team appearance.

He has received praise from Rossoneri icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his arrival at the club, but the loanee admitted recently that his move back to Sweden had not worked out for him.

“It hasn’t gone as planned, if I do say so myself. I just try to take it as it comes,” he said back in August. “Then it’s also up to the coach, but I try to do my best all the time.”

Italian media outlets have also reported that Milan have also failed to establish contact with their player and haven’t heard from him over the past 14 days. They are now trying to get in touch with the player’s agent to pinpoint his whereabouts.
