7 errors Alexander-Arnold has made this season as he faces calls to be dropped
A slew of errors made by Trent Alexander-Arnold have led to calls for the defender to be dropped from Liverpool's first team by fans and critics alike.
Alexander-Arnold will be spared the axe for now after he picked up an injury in Liverpool's 3-2 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday evening, in a game where his mistake gave the Gunners an early lead. But his defensive abilities were brought into question by Reds fans who scolded the England international for allowing Gabriel Martinelli room to strike home for the Gunners within 60 seconds of kick-off on Sunday.
Despite his fantastic attacking qualities and stunning strikes against Bournemouth and Glasgow Rangers, it wasn't the first time this season that the right-back has been caught napping at the back, leading to Liverpool conceding a goal. His latest error against Arsenal means Alexander-Arnold has now arguably been responsible for seven costly goals this season, starting in the Reds' 2-2 draw against Fulham on the opening day of the Premier League campaign.

That error was followed by another one when Manchester United grabbed a 2-1 victory over the Reds, then the 24-year-old was arguably at fault for two of the goals the Reds conceded in their 4-1 drubbing by Napoli in the Champions League.
His defensive frailties were blamed once again for another two goals scored by Brighton who held Klopp's side to a 3-3 draw at the start of October. It seemed like he turned a corner when he scored a sensational free-kick in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League last week, although critics urged the Scottish side the way to beat the Reds was to target Alexander-Arnold's weaknesses.

However, his joy was short-lived when fans laid into him for his mistake against the Gunners yesterday, before he hobbled off the pitch at the end of first-half, after Martinelli inadvertently stood on his ankle. And his questionable form has also caused sceptics to insist Gareth Southgate drops him from the England squad for the ensuing World Cup in November, if he recovers from injury by then.
