5 Liverpool transfers that could happen on Transfer Deadline Day
With the transfer deadline edging ever closer numerous reports have suggested Liverpool are still in the hunt to bolster their squad. The Reds have had a mixed start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, dropping points to Fulham and Crystal Palace before losing to old rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Jurgen Klopp ’s team soon turned things around though last weekend, after thumping Bournemouth 9-0 to give them an emphatic first win of the season. Despite their hammering of the Cherries Klopp still seems keen to bring in reinforcements, with their injury list already growing.
Most notably in midfield, with the Reds missing Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlande Chamberlain all through fitness problems.

With that in mind here are five potential players who could be brought into Anfield ahead of the deadline on Thursday night.
Douglas Luiz
With Liverpool’s central midfield options depleted, one man who could make his way in is Douglas Luiz. According to reports in Brazil, the Reds have submitted a £20million offer for the Aston Villa man.
Brazilian journalist Matheus Leal made light of the rumoured bid on Twitter, posting: “Brazilian Douglas Luiz could leave Aston Villa for Liverpool in the final hours of the window. Liverpool have made an offer of £20million for the midfielder, who welcomes the change of team. Aston Villa play hard and look to win a little more."
Ruben Neves
Luiz is not the only Premier League midfield man on Klopp and co’s radar, with Wolves man Ruben Neves also an option according to reports. Neves proved exactly what he is capable of at the weekend, after smashing a trademark long range effort to earn his side a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle.
Since making his move into the Premier League with Wolves, the Portuguese has often been linked with a move away and Anfield could prove the perfect destination, especially after he recently declared his want for Champions League football in an interview with The Times.
Neves said: “One of the things I miss most is the Champions League, it’s the best competition in the world to play in. So let’s try to achieve that. If you ask me at the end of last season [about my future] I would have said to you, ‘I will leave’ but I’m still here, so we never know what’s going to happen. We will see."

Moises Caicedo
Another man who has been linked with a move to the six-time Champions League winners is Moises Caicedo. Caicedo joined the Seagulls from his native Ecuador in February 2021, and in recent months has begun to impress under boss Graham Potter.
According to The Sun, Liverpool are lining up a £42m bid for the 20-year-old in a late window swoop. Despite this, Brighton manager Potter has played down the move, joking that a bid of that amount would just about pay Caicedo’s boots.
The manager said: “In football you never know, but we are quite calm and confident. You’d probably get his boots for that from the chairman, maybe! £100m? They can try. It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him, because he is playing at a fantastic level.”
Sander Berge
One of the more surprising links to the Reds has been Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge. Since the Blades were relegated at the end of the 2020/21 season, Berge has been playing his football in the Championship, but Klopp believes the midfielder is ready to jump back up to the big time according to The Yorkshire Post.
The Bramall Lane club are said to have put a £35m price tag on the Norwegian international, but this has not fought off Liverpool’s interest. The Blades will no doubt do anything they can to hold onto Berge having already rejected a bid from Belgian side Club Brugge, with their attention firmly fixed on returning to the Premier League.
Konrad Laimer
Looking further afield, the Reds reportedly have their eye on RB Leipzig Konrad Laimer. Laimer has just a year left on his contract, and Leipzig could well let the midfielder go for £25m with both Liverpool and Bayern Munich interested, according to German outlet Kicker.
RB Leipzig chief, Oliver Mintzlaff revealed this week that he is hoping the Austrian star will stay but is still said to be ‘holding conversations’ with interested parties. Per LVZ, Mintzlaff said: “I assume that Konny will stay. But the transfer window is still open and we're still holding a few conversations.”
