The UK is in a state of mourning following the passing of the Queen.

A hugely significant and sad event that opens a ten-day period in which the sovereign nation reflects on her life ahead of her state funeral next week. The Premier League and English Football League decided that it would be appropriate to cancel this weekend’s action. It means ardent football fans will have to look across Europe to get their weekend fix.

And today – Sunday 11 September – there is plenty to get stuck into, with 11 matches on offer through subscription TV.

Bologna vs Fiorentina, Serie A, 2pm – BT Sport 2

Bologna will host Fiorentina at the Renato Dall'Ara. It’s not been easy for the Rossoblu this season – being one of six teams without a win in Serie A this season.

Fiorentina had a positive start to their campaign but have since played back-to-back 1-1 draws. It should be a close encounter.

Ajaccio vs Nice, Ligue 1, 2pm – BT Sport 3

Ligue 1 newboys Ajaccio are yet to find their first three points of the season.

Nice will come in with just five points from their six games. Things don’t seem to be all smooth sailing since Lucien Favre came in to replace the departing manager Christophe Galtier.

The Swiss and the club’s director of football, Iain Moody, have not seen eye-to-eye over recruitment and it appears to have spilled out onto the pitch.

Sassuolo vs Udinese, Serie A, 2pm – BT Sport 5

Both Italian sides come into the game with an unbeaten streaks of four games. The only thing is Sassuolo have not won in each of those games, struggling to replace those key attacking names who left during the transfer window.

Udinese would be considered slight favourites.

Lecce vs Monza, Serie A, 2pm – BT Sport 6

Another pair of teams looking for their first win of the season. Both clubs were promoted from Serie B last campaign but have struggled to adapt to life in Serie A.

It will be a hugely pivotal game for both sides, who are looking to survive this season.

Cologne vs Union Berlin, Bundesliga, 2:30pm – Sky Sports Football

Both Bundesliga sides enjoyed a brilliant season last campaign in which they each claimed a spot in Europe.

And so far this time around has proved fruitful for both clubs too – each side will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Truly one to watch for the neutral.

Rennes vs Auxerre, Ligue 1, 4:05pm – BT Sport 3

Rennes will host Auxerre at the Roazhon Park. It has been a capricious start to the season for the hosts. They will be looking to capitalise on a frustrating 1-1 draw against 10-man Troyes.

Newly-promoted Auxerre, meanwhile, enjoyed a decent start to their return to the top-flight but a loss to Marseille and then to Lyon have seen them stumble a bit.

Freiburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach, Bundesliga, 4:30pm – Sky Sports Football

Freiburg will host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Europa-Park-Stadion emboldened by their 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

In fact, Freiburg are top of the Bundesliga standings with 12 points from five games. They host a side who are ninth in the league table with eight points from five games.

Lazio vs Verona, Serie A, 5pm – BT Sport 2

Hellas Verona are currently in 13th place in the Serie A table and have had some mixed results.

Lazio are in ninth place in the league table and have also been tepid this season.

Juventus vs Salernitana, Serie A, 7:45pm – BT Sport 1

Juventus have just one win in their last five games and will no doubt see this as the perfect opportunity to bounce back with a win.

Salernitana are undoubtedly the underdogs at the Allianz Stadium but are on a four-game unbeaten streak.

Monaco vs Lyon, Ligue 1, 7:45pm – BT Sport 2

Monaco will look to record a third win on the bounce in all competitions when they host Lyon at the Stade Louis II in what will be arguably the French league's biggest game of the day,

Pacific FC vs Atletico Ottawa, Canadian Premier League, 9pm – BT Sport 4

And for you night owls, a Candian Premier League encounter.

Atletico Ottawa, the current leaders on 40 points, will host Pacific who are five points behind them and have lost the last three.
