Even a victory over Australia on Saturday might not be enough for Wayne Pivac to save his job after he presided over one of the ‘darkest days’ in Welsh rugby history.
Wales’ 13-12 defeat by Georgia in Cardiff last weekend means their head coach Pivac has now won only three of 11 Tests in 2022.
Wales have lost to both Italy and Georgia this year.

Pivac’s assistant Neil Jenkins on Tuesday described the Georgia loss as ‘absolutely horrific’ and admitted the pressure was on Wales to bounce back against the Wallabies.
Sportsmail understands Pivac’s position as Wales boss is now under significant threat.
The Welsh Rugby Union is set to hold a crunch meeting next week which will review Wales’ autumn campaign as well as whether or not Pivac should remain in charge.
Chief executive Steve Phillips must weigh up whether or not to continue to back Pivac despite Wales’ poor results and underwhelming performances or move on less than a year out from the World Cup.

The fact the WRU do not currently have an elected chairman in place and the lack of a genuine alternative to Pivac also complicates any prospective sacking of the New Zealander.
Wales are looking to bounce back from their Georgia humiliation against the Wallabies with Pivac in the last-chance saloon.
‘There’s no hiding place,’ Jenkins said. ‘It’s tough. I’m not going to lie. It is incredibly disappointing, which is probably putting it lightly. It’s one of the darkest days. It’s absolutely horrific.’
Wales will face a patched-up Australia side which has been decimated by injury.

But the confidence in Pivac’s camp hit a new low after the Georgia humiliation.
Wales looked devoid of any ideas against the Lelos.
Pivac’s predecessor Warren Gatland would be one option if Wales opted to seek a new head coach but going cap in hand back to one of their former employees might prove embarrassing for the WRU. There is also no guarantee Gatland would be interested in a Welsh return.
New Zealander Scott Robertson is also admired by Wales but he is in the running to succeed Eddie Jones with England and has also been clear in his desire to take charge of his homeland.
