The Rugby Football League have launched a probe into an alleged punch-up between England star Victor Radley and Leeds Rhinos’ Ireland international James Bentley.

Radley and Bentley are claimed to have clashed in a bar at England’s Worsley Park team hotel on Sunday, 24 hours after the hosts’ humiliating World Cup semi-final defeat to Samoa at the Emirates Stadium.

Shaun Wane’s side travelled back to their hotel near Manchester immediately after Saturday’s shock golden-point loss in north London.

The RFL are investigating afterVictor  Radley allegedly fought with James Bentley

While a number of players checked out during the day on Sunday, Sydney Roosters lock Radley and England’s other Australian-based players stayed for another night. Bentley, whose Ireland team were knocked out in the group stage, was understood to be visiting friends in the England squad.

An RFL spokesperson said: ‘The RFL have been made aware of allegations and are currently investigating the matter.’

A Rugby League World Cup spokesperson added: ‘The Rugby League World Cup is aware of reported incidents and is in conversation with the respective parties to establish the circumstances.’

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that two other England players were allegedly involved in a separate brawl at the hotel, where Samoa checked-in on Sunday ahead of this weekend’s final with Australia at Old Trafford.

RFL sources claim they have no knowledge of this incident and World Cup organisers have not received any complaint from Samoa about the behaviour of the England team.
