Ben Earl has revealed the quirky challenge set to all of the players in the England camp ahead of joining up for the World Cup in France.
Speaking to Mail Sport’s Nik Simon on web-series ‘Croqued Monsieurs: An Alternative World Cup Diary’, the Saracens flanker showed off a brand-new pair of Crocs, which were given to him by Henry Arundell.
Earl explained: ‘We had a team of 33. so every lad had to get 33 gifts for themselves and their team-mates.
‘Henry Arundell kindly got us all a pair of white Crocs. Hence my initials on these, just to differentiate myself from everyone else.
‘First pair of Crocs I’ve ever worn,’ Earl continued. ‘And they are so, so comfortable. They look very very average, but here we are.’

On his own gift idea, Earl shared: ‘I got everyone a random football shirt. It’s called Shirt in a Box – you buy this box and you don’t know what football shirt’s going to be in it, so there have been some real howlers.
‘Ollie Lawrence got a 96 Italy shirt, whilst Owen Farrell got an Eastern European shirt – we don’t actually know what the team’s called, but it’s got Fruit and Nut as a sponsor, which is fascinating.’
England will face Japan in Nice on Sunday evening in their second pool match in Group D.
