Rugby World Cup LIVE – England referee change as ‘illegal move identified’

Earl and England look ahead to Rugby World Cup semi-final

The time is almost upon us for England’s mouth-watering Rugby World Cup semi-final contest against reigning champions South Africa at the Stade de France at 8pm tonight. Steve Borthwick’s men will be desperate for revenge after losing the final four years ago, but head into the contest as underdogs.

The victors of tonight’s crunch clash will face an almighty task in the final against New Zealand, who booked their place in the showpiece finale – a record fifth for them – following their 44-6 thrashing of Argentina in Paris last night.

It marked the second biggest margin of win at the World Cup semi-final stage, with New Zealand’s 49-6 victory over Wales back in 1987 the most lopsided in history. But all eyes are on South Africa for now for England, and captain Owen Farrell has been keen to reiterate that any wounds from the 2019 final have gone.

Farrell said: “This feels like a new challenge… a new opportunity. In four years, a lot happens in rugby, a lot happens in a week here. We feel like we’ve obviously changed as a team. I imagine South Africa feel like they’ve changed over four years as well.”

Below, Express Sport will provide you with the latest news and updates from what has been a thrilling Rugby World Cup…
