Last time the Dragons and Warriors met
It was the Dragons who came out on top, 24-18 (see video highlights below) at Kogarah. This is their first meeting at WIN Stadium since 2018. The Warriors won that game 18-12, snapping a 10-match losing streak in Wollongong.
Too much footy is never enough
Good evening folks and thanks for joining us for the opening match of round 17, continuing a massive week for the greatest game of all that kicked off with the men’s State of Origin II in Brisbane on Wednesday night then the women’s equivalent in Townsville on Thursday evening. Unfortunately those pesky Queenslanders won both series, but we won’t talk too much about that!!

An impassioned plea from a long-suffering Dragons supporter
Senior SMH colleague and long-time Dragons tragic Jason Avedissian has implored the Red V faithful to give disgruntled captain Ben Hunt the respect he deserves tonight:
“Dragons fans in Wollongong should show some respect and stand and applaud Ben Hunt when he leads St George Illawarra onto the field for the clash with the Warriors.
“Unlike many around him, the champion playmaker has been a consistent force since joining the club in 2018, proudly playing every match like it was his last. He has been a cornerstone of just about every victory in his six-and-a-half years at the club.
“If Hunt is not happy for whatever reason and wants to leave, Dragons management should do the honourable thing and let him go immediately. Equally, fans tonight need to stand as one and thank the general for his services.
“With a wooden spoon still in play, Dragons fans need to back their team to help secure two vital competition points tonight.”
