Nathan Jones omitted after milestone 300th but could still be sub
Undefeated Melbourne have shown little sentiment dropping veteran star Nathan Jones just a week after his 300th game.
Jones was listed as omitted from the Demons team for their trip to Tasmania to take on North Melbourne on Sunday with former Roos forward Ben Brown to make his club debut.
But Jones could still be used as the medical sub joining Oskar Baker, Toby Bedford and Harry Petty on the short-list for that role.

The Roos will be without emerging star Luke Davies-Uniacke due to personal reasons and Connor Menadue has been omitted while Charlie Lazzaro (concussion) and Aaron Hall (hamstring tightness) return to the side after injuries.
Carlton have made three additions to their side with Paddy Dow, Matthew Owies and Luke Parks all returning to the team. Parks has overcome a hamstring problem to gain his place.
Marc Murphy (neck soreness) and Zac Williams (general soreness) will miss due while Sam Petreski-Seton and medical sub Matthew Kennedy have both been left out.
Key defender Jacob Weitering will become the youngest Blues player to reach 100 games.
Essendon welcome back star defender Jordan Ridley and James Stewart with Nick Bryan to make his debut.
They replace Andrew Phillips (injured), Aaron Francis (ankle), Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (omitted) and David Zaharakis (omitted).
West Coast premiership captain Shannon Hurn will miss the derby with Fremantle due to injury with Jack Petruccelle to come back into the side and Josh Kennedy to captain the team.
Harry Edwards will come into the side with Tom Barrass battling a shoulder injury from last week’s loss to Geelong.
Defender Tobe Watson and midfielder Darcy Tucker will come into Fremantle’s side with Luke Ryan (calf) and Josh Treacy (omitted) dropping out.
Tucker, who hails from Horsham, will be playing his first game of 2021.
