Security reportedly intervened and ejected Staggs from the premises.

“We’re aware of the situation with the NRL integrity unit and we will leave it in their safe hands,” Broncos coach Kevin Walters said on Thursday.

“I won’t make any more comment than that, but we are certainly aware of the situation and that it is being investigated by the NRL.

“We’ll support Kotoni and the NRL in their investigations.

“I’ve spoken to him about it, (I was made aware of it) a couple of days ago.

“We are up here to play against the Eels, Kotoni is not here but we are supporting him, like we would all our players in this situation. We have full respect for the NRL and the integrity unit in their investigation, we support them 100 per cent as well.”

This is Staggs’ third off-field incident over the past 12 months – he was embroiled in a revenge porn saga last August and was fined $10,000 for used a homophobic slur to insult a fan in January.

Staggs has played 47 games for the Broncos since making his NRL debut in 2018, scoring 23 tries for the club.

He is currently unavailable due to an ACL injury and is not expected to make a return until mid-season.

Staggs is currently locked in negotiations with the Broncos with a reported $2.8 million four-year deal on the table.

The Broncos are in the box seat to sign Staggs after the Titans pulled their offer to the prodigious centre.
