Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas arrested after alleged brawl
Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas was reportedly arrested after an alleged brawl on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.
The Courier Mail reports the 21-year-old Blues Origin forward was taken into custody by police in Tweed Heads following the alleged incident.
“About 10pm Saturday 16th January, officers from Tweed-Byron Police District arrested a 21-year-old man on Coral Street at Tweed Heads after the man allegedly became abusive towards police,” a statement from NSW Police read.
“He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with offensive language and intimidate police.
“He is due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday the 2nd of February.”
Nine News reporter Mark Gottlieb tweeted: “Another Origin star arrested on the Gold Coast. NSW and Broncos forward Payne Haas arrested after a physical altercation at Tweed Heads last night.
“The Broncos had a training session at Burleigh Beach yesterday and some players spent the night on the town.”

Haas was previously suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season for failing to comply with an NRL Integrity Unit investigation.
In addition, he was also fined $20,000 because he refused to answer questions about alleged violence involving members of his family.
In a disastrous season for the Broncos last year, which saw them claim the wooden spoon for the first time in the club’s history, Haas was a rare bright spot. His form earned him NSW selection again, having debuted for the Blues in 2019.
The bullocking front-rower has played two Tests for the Kangaroos, and has won the award as Brisbane’s best player the past two seasons.
