Blues lose Weitering to shoulder injury early in Pies clash
Star Carlton defender Jacob Weitering has suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s blockbuster match against Collingwood.
The in-form key defender had taken two intercept marks in the Blues’ defensive 50, playing against Brody Mihocek, before clashing with Jordan De Goey in a contest in the centre of the ground.

He ran straight to the interchange nursing his right shoulder and went down into the rooms, before the Blues activated their substitute late in the first term.
Carlton confirmed via Twitter that Weitering had been subbed out with a shoulder injury. He returned to the bench at quarter-time with his arm in a sling.
Jack Carroll was brought into the game.
The Pies trailed by a goal before Weitering’s injury, but kicked the next two to take a narrow lead by eight points at quarter-time.
Their goals game through Jamie Elliott, Steele Sidebottom and Ollie Henry. Jack Ginnivan had a chance to put the Pies further in front but hit the post from 10 metres out.
The scores are 3.4 (22) to 2.2 (14) in the Magpies’ favour at quarter-time.
