Andrew Johns blasts ‘legless’ Sea Eagles, Daly Cherry-Evans after horror loss

Jake Trbojevic was screaming and his teammates weren’t even interested.

The ugly moment the Sea Eagles forward ripped into his team during a half time speech inside the team’s Brookvale Oval dressing room was caught on camera Thursday night, exposing how many players weren’t even paying attention.

Trbojevic, widely reported to be the team’s most senior leader behind captain Daly Cherry-Evans, also barked orders during the team’s disastrous second half capitulation against the Panthers.

However, it was the footage of Trbojevic’s half time talk that left the biggest black eye on the Sea Eagles’ 2021 campaign.

Johns told SEN’s Morning Glory with Matthew Johns Friday the sight of players failing to respond to Trbojevic’s speech made him feel sorry for the NSW State of Origin star.

“Honestly, there were about two players paying attention. They were just scattered in every direction.,” he said.

“At halftime… they showed the clip of Jake screaming at them, which is very unlike him. Jake looks like he needs a cuddle.”

He went on to describe the Sea Eagles’ performance as “legless”.

The NRL immortal also singled out superstar playmaker Daly Cherry-Evans for his failure to find a way to keep Manly in the contest.

The Sea Eagles are 0-4 this season after being humiliated 46-6 by Penrith.

Johns said Cherry-Evans still could have saved the team with his kicking-game and defence, despite acknowledging that the Manly forwards had been trampled by the Penrith pack.

Johns said Cherry-Evans was the main reason Manly’s right edge defence fell apart against the Panthers.

The 40-point drubbing was Manly’s biggest ever defeat at Lottoland. To make matters worse, Sea Eagles forward Morgan Boyle dislocated his shoulder in the loss, while Moses Suli suffered what looked to be a back injury.
