Championship leader Max Verstappen (on 262.5 points) and current drivers’ champion Lewis Hamilton (on 256.5 points) look set to battle it out in qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas with just six races left of the 2021 season.
The final two practice sessions both saw Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez go fastest though as the Dutchman went wheel-to-wheel with Hamilton before the 24-year-old swore at his title rival.
This race last took place in 2019, with Valtteri Bottas taking the chequered flag after fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen had won the year before.
