Perez gets apology after Red Bull star accused of ‘making my son cry’
Horner opens up on Red Bull's 'barren spell' amid Mercedes dominance
Sergio Perez has received an apology from a journalist after the Red Bull star was accused of making a child cry. ESPN reporter Miguel Gonzalez laid into Perez after the Mexican refused to take a picture with his son over the weekend.
Gonzalez claimed the 33-year-olds refusal to interact with his son provoked “tears” after a meal at a restaurant. Perez is understood to have said no to the reporter as he was enjoying a meal with his family in between races.
Gonzalez tweeted: “Thanks to @SChecoPerez for ignoring and turning your back on my son when you were leaving the restaurant.
“Incredulous, I approached you to ask if you could take a picture with him and you declined, saying that you came with your family. This time the tears you provoked were not from emotion. The child waited for them to finish and leave so as not to be impertinent.

“What a pity it bothers you when a child asks you for a photo, although you have every right to deny it @SChecoPerez. By the way, the garbage on the table is collected. Education is also taught and learned as a family.”
However, many social media users hit back at the comments and defended Perez for his decision. @SritaMow posted: “Checo has already said countless times that he likes that they respect his time and space with his family.
“I’m surprised you don’t know this if you’re a sports reporter.” @JoseEscobedo_ added: “He has so little time to be in Mexico with his family and also has to deal with “the obligation” to take a picture with your son, Miguel.
