NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to entertain F1 fans with DJ set at US Grand Prix
NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal will bring his gigantic presence to F1 this weekend when he attends the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
While the drivers’ championship is over after Max Verstappen clinched the title in bizarre fashion in Japan earlier this month, there is still great excitement surrounding the race, with a weekend attendance of 400,000 expected at the venue which has become a staple on the F1 calendar since its first race in 2012.
Almost as many big names will be performing off track as on it, and they don’t came any bigger than 7ft1in O'Neal. While best known for his basketball heroics with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat, Shaq has tried his hand at many other things.

Back in the 1990s during his NBA career, he released several rap albums. He has also tried his hand at acting, mixed martial arts, WWE and his current passion, DJing.
A man of many nicknames, O'Neal is known as DJ Diesel when on the decks and he will perform a set from the podium after the race at Austin on Sunday. The Diesel nickname is said to stem from him supposedly having the endurance of a diesel engine.
Shaq attended last year’s race in Austin too, meeting F1 personnel and memorably delivering the podium trophies in a longhorn-adorned car.

He also handed the trophies to winner Verstappen, second-place finisher Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez. Shaq amusingly still towered over Hamilton and Perez despite the fact they were standing on elevated steps.
There will be other star performances at this year's race, with Green Day headlining on Friday while Edd Sheeran will perform on the qualifying day on Saturday.
