Michael Schumacher’s health update with star ‘no longer present’

Michael Schumacher: Netflix teases documentary in trailer

Michael Schumacher’s health has remained a closely guarded secret since his ski accident 10 years ago. However, some details have emerged which give small insights into the seven-time champion’s life at home.

Michael Schumacher’s health has remained a closely guarded secret since his ski accident 10 years ago.

The latest update was provided by Schumacher’s former team boss Eddie Jordan. The Irishman has been denied entry to see the seven-time champion from Schumacher’s family but held no grudges as he accepted it was hard for his wife Corinna.

However, he revealed he had held talks with ex-Haas star Mick Schumacher on the German star’s condition in the past. Jordan explained to OLBG: “As far as I’m concerned, I was touched by it (Mick reaching out) and the reason I was touched by it was because it can’t be easy knowing that your father is not able to be part of the family, he’s there but he’s not there.”

Further information on Schumacher’s health was revealed in last year’s Netflix documentary. The programme featured extensive interviews with Schumacher’s inner circle who accepted the ex-Ferrari star had changed.

Mick Schumacher revealed that his father was there “to a lesser extent” and suggested he could only hold brief conversations with him.

He commented: “We would have had much more to talk about and that is where my head is most of the time, thinking that would be so cool. I would give up everything just for that. These moments that I believe many people have with their parents are no longer present, or to a lesser extent.”

Schumacher’s Wife Corinna added that the family were getting on with their lives and stressed their insistence on keeping his condition a secret. She told filmmakers: “I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he’s here and that gives us strength, I find. We try to carry on a family as Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.

“Private is private’, as he always said. It is very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible.” Schumacher’s former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt is a close friend of the family and has visitation access to the star.

The ex-FIA President gave a rare insight last year where he confirmed the star was “in good hands”. He added: “Sometimes we see each other three times a week, sometimes not for a whole month.

“They are my friends and we are in constant contact. Whatever I can do for the Schumacher family, I’ll do it.”
