Mercedes have wasted little time in beginning their preparations to wrestle the world title back from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Less than two weeks after Lewis Hamilton was controversially denied the world championship on the last lap of the the final round in Abu Dhabi, the Brackley-based outfit have given fans a sneak preview of their new car for next season.
The team shared a video clip of the W13 being fired up for the first time on social media on Thursday.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is also seen keeping up to date with developments via a live video link on a mobile phone.
The images offered no further clues about the design of the new Mercedes car, which Hamilton and new team-mate George Russell will race in 2022.
F1’s first pre-season test is due to take place at Barcelona in Spain from February 23 to 25, with teams expected to unveil their cars just before then.

It came after the safety car was deployed after Williams driver Nicholas Latifi spun five laps from the end, allowing Verstappen to pit for fresh tyres.
Race director Michael Masi then allowed only some of the lapped cars between the two title contenders to overtake the safety car ahead of the one-lap shoot-out, putting Verstappen on Hamilton’s tail.
Wolff said this week the events in the UAE had left Hamilton feeling ‘disillusioned’ and there was no guarantee he would continue in the sport .
But Mercedes withdrew their appeal against the FIA .
