Martin Brundle apologises after getting mic stuck in handbag during grid walk
Martin Brundle was given a ringing endorsement by an F1 fan ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix – only to then get his microphone caught in a woman’s handbag.
The F1 legend entertained fans with another eventful jaunt down the grid ahead of the race in Mexico City, which saw world champion Max Verstappen start on pole.
There was no chance of Brundle catching a word with the Dutchman after Red Bull’s decision to snub all interviews with Sky Sports until further notice as they are unhappy with perceived criticism of Verstappen by pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz.

However, Brundle found plenty of other people to talk to and, unlike at last weekend’s United States Grand Prix where he was given the cold shoulder by actor Brad Pitt, there were no snubs.
He spoke to drivers Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso. He also had a natter with former world motorcycle champion Mick Doohan, the father Jack Doohan, the F2 drivers who is on the books of Alpine as a junior driver.
Brundle then caught a word with a Dutch DJ and Verstappen supporter before stopping a random fan called Amelia, who told the broadcaster she “loved” him and said he shouldn’t have been ignored by Pitt, or by anyone for that matter.

Clearly grateful for the kind words, Brundle moved on to find another interviewee, only to be impeded when he got his mic caught in a woman’s handbag. The woman and her friend initially looked shocked before eventually seeing the funny side as Brundle offered his apologies and insisted he wasn't trying to steal the bag or anything in it.
He finally moved on, speaking to musician William.i.am who is becoming something of a regular on the grid walk, with the pair also speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
