Lewis Hamilton names his favourite band for the first time amid F1 misery
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has encountered numerous problems so far in Formula One this season, with further issues coming to a head at Imola.
A woeful qualifying session on Friday, which saw Mercedes fail to have a car in the final round for the first time in a decade, was followed by a poor showing in the Sprint and things didn't improve in Sunday's race.
While teammate George Russell was able to come home in fourth, Hamilton failed to work his way through the grid and finished outside of the points – even suffering the embarrassment of being lapped by rival Max Verstappen. Hamilton had already ceded prior to the race that he was out of contention for a potential record-breaking eighth world title, while team principal Toto Wolff stated after the race the car was 'undrivable'.
That leaves the team with plenty of work to do if they are to salvage their season and Hamilton appeared to find an escape from the drama in the evening after the race through music.
In his Instagram story, Hamilton declared that Tame Impala were his favourite band and asked fans what their favourite music choice was – sharing an image of him listening to the song 'Let It Happen'.
Hamilton has a strong passion for music and has appeared in Christiana Aguilera's song Pipe under the name XNDA and launched an album in 2020, with a future venture in music likely after his retirement from racing.

The Brit has previously compared driving to an art form, stating: “What we do is an art form. Many people may not see it that way, but in reality, it is like that. If you look at a painter, he is always looking for inspiration and perfecting himself.
"We also seek and feel the same while giving back to the circuit. We are creative when we choose the set-up, understanding what we can do, redesigning the steering wheel, the pedals, the seat, or looking for improvements in the aerodynamics. There is a great creative component in everything we do."
Hamilton is also passionate about fashion, attending the MET Gala in New York after last year's Italian Grand Prix, and has recently confirmed his position as part of consortium looking to complete a takeover of Premier League giants Chelsea.
