Lewis Hamilton was spotted on his latest car spying session after losing out to fellow Brit Lando Norris in Sunday’s British Grand Prix. The Mercedes star was blown away by McLaren’s “rocketship” as he joined Max Verstappen and Norris on the podium at Silverstone.
With the help of a timely Safety Car, Hamilton recovered from ninth on the opening lap to notch P3 in his home race.
But Norris was the weekend’s hero, overtaking Verstappen at lights out to lead in the opening stages before fending off Hamilton to record a memorable P2 finish.
His McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri also benefitted from the team’s upgrades, finishing the British Grand Prix in a career-best P4.
Hamilton couldn’t believe his former team’s pace around the iconic track, hailing Norris and McLaren after the race.
He said: “Big congratulations to Lando and McLaren. It was where I first started, so to see them back up there looking so strong [was good].

“That thing was rapid through the high-speed corners. Wow. I couldn’t keep up, but we had a good little battle on the restart.”
And Norris had to tell the seven-time world champion to “relax” as he continued to wax lyrical about its performance in the cool-down room.
F1 has since released a video on Twitter showing Hamilton closely analysing the McLaren car before putting on his Mercedes cap and walking away.
The 38-year-old has grown a reputation for taking a closer look at his rivals’ packages, likely in an attempt to discover any opportunity for Mercedes to improve.

The Silver Arrows are the ‘best of the rest’ behind Red Bull, who are dominating the drivers’ and constructors’ standings.
Hamilton and George Russell have accumulated 203 points, 22 ahead of Aston Martin duo Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
But McLaren will hope to get in on the competition if Norris and Piastri can continue their upward trajectory.
And the former has issued a fresh challenge to Verstappen and Hamilton as they prepare to battle again in next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
He took to Twitter to post an edited image of the trio in the cool-down room, making it look like they were doing a podcast together, captioned: “Another one in Budapest? @Max33Verstappen @LewisHamilton”
