Lando Norris shares ‘naughty’ McLaren party as Ricciardo ‘trashed’ hotel floor

McLaren pair Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo have recalled wild parties during their career, with the former 'kicked out' of a hotel pool while his teammate 'trashed' the entire floor of a hotel.

The life of a Formula One driver is full of high-speed drama both on and off the track, with the select few who make it into the pinnacle of motorsport enjoying a lavish lifestyle of glitz and glamour.

That can result in some situations that are well beyond your everyday person who stresses about being charged by a hotel for scuffing the carpet or splintering a door but it isn't a worry for the likes of Norris and Ricciardo.

Speaking at the Hilton Bentley Miami/South Beach ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, where Norris crashed out and Ricciardo came in 13th, the McLaren pair were asked if there were any stories of wild parties in their hotel rooms.

True to form, Ricciardo was the first to dish out the dirt saying: “I mean, I didn’t merely trash the room, I trashed the whole floor."

Norris, meanwhile, was initially shy as he turned to Ricciardo and whispered in his teammate's ear, leading to chants from the crowd to 'spill' the gossip but, while he didn't reveal the details of that particular secret, he did recall one 'naughty' incident.

“We got kicked out of the pool. We were being naughty in the pool and everyone, not just me, got kicked out. So we went up to the rooms [and] had a nice party in the rooms. And that was that, so I apologise if there were any disturbed people in the ground above and the ground below. But yeah, it was good fun.”

Ricciardo did issue credit for Hilton for their work, praising their ability to get his uniforms clean and ready, adding: “I will say something that’s not too crazy, but they do very well at helping me stay fresh on race day.

“There’s been many times where we sweat in our suits and sometimes we use too many on a race weekend and we need to get them expressed cleaned or washed in a short amount of time. They’re very quick and efficient with bringing smelly dirty clothes back clean and wonderful.”

Formula One heads to Barcelona next for the start of the first double-header race weekend of the season, with Monaco following swiftly after.
