F1 fans were in hysterics after the sport's official Twitter account poked fun at Valtteri Bottas for his embrace of Australian culture.
Alfa Romeo driver Bottas is in Bahrain gearing up for lights out on the highly-anticipated new season on Sunday. And the much-loved Finnish star has kept his fresh look that caused quite the stir during his trip Down Under in the off-season.
Laid-back Bottas gained an army of new Aussie fans when he showed off a drastic new appearance in a hilarious holiday video in December.
On the trip with his Aussie girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell – who is a pro cyclist – Bottas is seen searching for an "Australian starter pack" as he looks to fit in with the locals.

And he is still sporting the bold mullet and moustache combo he receives in the viral video, that now has over 2.3 million views on Twitter.
At the end of the clip, Bottas kicks back his flip flops (thongs) and relaxes on the beach. But that is where some confusion lies for some F1 fans who viewed a light-hearted social media promo on Thursday.

Introducing Bottas, the post reads: "From Finland and Australia in spirit", adding that he "Loves: a mullet, thongs and a yeah nah yeah."
"Thong" is actually an Aussie word for 'flip flop', defining the rubber-soled footwear rather than the skimpy underwear garment.
And the 'thong' idiosyncrasy left some unaware fans bewildered on social media as they reacted to the comedic post.
"Had to think twice about what he loves there!" one fan wrote. "He loves what?" another added. "He's talking about flip flops lmao," one user clarified.
"Yeah nah yeah? Give this man an Aussie citizenship please," an Australian fan wrote – referencing the nation's slang term which Bottas is also proclaimed to love. "Losing it at 'yeah man yeah,'" another added, with a series of laughing emojis.
The Twitter thread with all 20 drivers, which included descriptions of Lando Norris as a full-time gamer and part-time F1 driver as well as Max Verstappen's apparent enjoyment of "Maxsplaining," has proved a popular hit online as excitement builds ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
