TikTok video lands Ohio men’s basketball player in hot water with NCAA
You don’t have to put everything on social media.
Ohio Bobcats guard Michael Brown Jr. is learning that the hard way after he posted a TikTok video showing the inner workings of the NCAA Tournament bubble in Indianapolis on his account @ayoitsmike.
The video on Brown’s account, which has over 61,000 followers, showed his personal credential and an NCAA worker implementing the tracking devices that every player and coach must wear inside the bubble.
Brown said in another video that the NCAA reached out to Ohio head coach Jeff Boals and his staff about the post. Brown posted the email on his TikTok page with the sender’s name covered. The email said, “For event safety and security reasons, [they] need [Brown] to take it down or edit the post to remove the image of the credential asap.”

Had Brown refused to take down the video he might’ve been kicked out of the tournament. Brown deleted the original video but insisted that his followers “blow this up even more for [him].” The video showing his credential had 1.8 million view before being deleted.
Brown appeared in four games this season for the Bobcats, averaging 0.3 points per contest. Mostly used in low-stake situations, Brown plays on the team alongside his brother and Bobcats’ sixth man, Miles.
No.13 seeded Ohio is set to play the No. 4 seed and defending national champion Virginia in the first round of the tournament on Saturday at Assembly Hall. It’ll be the first time since 2012 that the Bobcats play an NCAA Tournament game.
