Texas, Creighton surge into top five of Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll
The new year brings a few changes in the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll. The top three teams remain unchanged from the final poll of 2020, but a couple others make big moves to crack the top five.
Gonzaga is still No. 1, with 29 of 32 first-place votes. No. 2 Baylor retains the remaining three No. 1 votes, And Villanova holds steady at No. 3.
Texas vaults five places to No. 4 following its huge road win at Kansas. It is the highest ranking for the Longhorns since the 2010-11 season. Creighton also climbs five slots to No. 5, topping its previous high watermark of No. 7 during the 2016-17 season.

Kansas slips to No. 6, followed by Iowa moving back up to No. 7. Tennessee drops to No. 8 after its first loss of the year, with Michigan and Wisconsin rounding out the top 10.
TOP 25: Complete Ferris Mowers men's basketball poll
Five teams join the Top 25 this week, with the ACC accounting for four of them. Clemson heads the group, making its season debut at No. 18. No. 20 Virginia Tech, No. 24 Duke and No. 25 Louisville also rejoin the poll. The other newcomer is No. 23 Saint Louis.
The Big Ten is still well-represented in the poll but loses three of its ranked squads – Michigan State, Northwestern and Ohio State – among the week’s five dropouts. Xavier and San Diego State are the others to fall out.
