Steelers’ Trai Turner spits on Marquel Lee, gets ejected from game vs. Raiders
Trai Turner was spitting mad in the Steelers’ Sunday meeting with the rival Raiders. And so, the Pittsburgh guard spit on Las Vegas linebacker Marquel Lee in the third quarter of the game.
The confrontation came in the third quarter, following a 25-yard touchdown reception by rookie running back Najee Harris. Video replay shows Turner arguing with an official before turning around, walking to Lee and spitting in his face, setting off a scuffle.
Since the foul occurred after the play, it did not take the touchdown off the board. Indeed, an unsportsmanlike penalty by Solomon Thomas offset the penalty and ended up costing the Raiders no yards. Regardless, Turner was ejected from the game.
Without Turner in the game, the Steelers managed just 50 yards on their next three ensuing drives: 9 yards on a three-and-out, 30 yards to set up a 56-yard field goal and 11 yards on the final play of the game.
The Raiders ultimately won 26-17 over the Steelers.
